Header & Hub Lateral Assemblies

Header and hub lateral assemblies collect or distribute flow within media-filled vessels. Review the screen layout around the vessel geometry, inlet position, media, service flow and backwash duty. Header and radial forms are presented together for straightforward selection.

Configurations to discuss

Header lateral layout

Screen laterals connect along a central or offset header. Define branch length, spacing, connection location and installation access.

Hub / radial lateral layout

Screen arms radiate from a hub. Define hub position, arm count, angles, length and the vessel clearance at each arm.

Specification and drawing checklist

These are the inputs needed to assess the screen. Final dimensions, material, slot and tolerances follow the accepted quotation and approved drawing.

ParameterSpecify with your enquiry
Vessel geometryInternal diameter, head shape, internal obstructions and assembly location.
Inlet & main connectionConnection size, standard, orientation, elevation and flange or thread details.
LayoutHeader / hub dimensions, lateral count, length, spacing or radial angles.
Screen constructionScreen-only or supported/base-pipe arrangement, slot, profile and support details.
Material & mediaRequired material grade, media type, particle size, bed depth and process chemicals.
Hydraulic dutyService and backwash flow with units; permitted pressure drop and distribution requirements.
Mechanical dutyMedia loading, differential pressure, support points and agreed assembly tolerances.
InstallationManway opening, removable-arm requirements, piece numbering and assembly sequence.

North American drawings: keep the drawing's original units. Identify inches or millimeters, flow in GPM or m³/h, and pressure difference in psi, bar or kPa. Mark the complete pipe thread or flange standard where relevant.

The header and radial layouts share one product page because they address the same collector / distributor procurement task. They are configured around the vessel.

An assembly photo cannot establish hydraulic distribution, mechanical strength or fit. Those requirements belong in the approved project drawing and acceptance criteria.

Questions about header & hub lateral assemblies

What is the difference between header and hub laterals?

A header layout connects branches along a main pipe. A hub layout places arms radially around a central connection. Vessel geometry and the required flow distribution guide the choice.

Can the laterals be removable?

Include this requirement with the vessel access drawing. The connection type, tool access, arm length and assembly sequence need to be reviewed together.

Which connection details should I send?

State the full thread or flange designation, nominal size, facing or sealing detail, orientation and allowable envelope. Include a drawing of the mating connection.

Can I use the same slot for every media bed?

No. The media particle size, retention duty and hydraulic requirements govern slot selection. Submit the actual media information for the project.
